Summary: This book on development-induced displacement (DID) in Goa, 1965-2010, is intrinsic to an All India effort to understand DID by planned takeover of land in the name of national development. It looks at the extent of displacement and deprivation caused by it, and its impact on people who are displaced or otherwise deprived of sustenance without physical relocation. The study also brings out the impact of 1991 policy of liberalisation. The objective of the effort is to look at the possibilities of policy changes in favour of inclusive development which includes a search for alternatives that combine economic growth with people's development. The study done in tow stages, 1965-95 and 1996-2010, begins in 1965 when the Land Acquisition Act 1894 came into force in Goa. The second stage of the study showed that more land was acquired in Goa during the decades.
