This book contains the papers presented by Christian scholars at a Seminar on Family and Clan in Tribal Societies in North East India. The papers are based on in-depth studies of the situation found in twelve tribal societies. The studies show that the terms ' family' and 'clan' derived from Western scholarship cannot fully represent the complex network of biological, emotional and social relationships that exist in these societies. The authors are keenly aware of this fundamental problem mainly because they are 'insiders'. They present the traditional practices and capture the changes that have taken place in family and clan in modern times. This collection of papers is a significant contribution to Tribal Studies in general and Tribal Theology in particular.
