Pakshi Jala documents the intricate connection between bird and water- the web of bird and water- as observed through my lens of birds watching of IISc campus, over a period of 12 years. Tracing the history of birdwatching on the campus from the 1960s, I highlight the fact that the diversity of avifauna has increased with more than 200 species documented, due to many interventions on campus. The birding hotspots on campus are elucidated with their unique features. I also describe my experiments with the bird baths to portray that a small patch of a home garden can be transformed into a bird haven, presenting an opportunity to study bird behavior at close quarters. The YouTube link to the bird videos is also provided to serve as a companion to the book, to bring to life the joyous behavior of birds.
