Religion has become a source of division in recent years with communal tensions leading to lynching, riots and other forms of conflicts. This issue was discussed at a seminar in November 2019. The paper presenters attempted to understand the causes of such conflicts and asked whether religion only causes conflicts or can also lead to peace. The papers presented at the seminar some of which are published in this book show that religion and other emotional issues such as language and identity can result both in conflicts and can lead to solutions. The processes that lead to one and the other are studied in the papers presented in this book.
